The Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm) is a two-year undergraduate diploma course offered by pharmacy colleges across India. It serves as the minimum qualification required to become a registered pharmacist in the country. Eligible candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination or an equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Biology.
The D. Pharm curriculum covers fundamental concepts of pharmaceutical science without offering specializations. Upon successful completion of the course and registration with either the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) or the respective State Pharmacy Council, graduates are qualified to establish and manage their own pharmacies. They can stock, sell, and dispense medicines based on prescriptions from registered medical practitioners.
Additionally, D. Pharm graduates have opportunities to pursue careers as medical representatives within the pharmaceutical industry. This diploma program provides essential skills and knowledge necessary for entry-level positions in pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical sales.
